Abruzzo
Abruzzi is a mountainous region lying just little more than 100 km east from Rome, between the Adriatic Sea, with Pescara and Ortona as its main ports, and the Apennines, the ideal place for skiing. The area boasts 21 ski resorts, among which the most renowned are Roccaraso and Campo Felice, with 368 km of tracks and the possibility of practising the cross country skiing. One third of Abruzzi is covered by parks and natural reserves, home for protected flora and fauna such as the wolf, the brown bear and the chamois. However other important tourist attractions are without doubt its sandy beaches: Vasto, Silvi Marina, Alba Adriatica and Fossacesia are really worth visiting.
