Siena is a delightful medieval city in the heart of Tuscany, probably best known for its colourful Palio horse race run twice a year in Piazza del Campo, the shell-shaped town square. Among the things that visitors can’t afford to miss are the Duomo, a marvellous black and white Romanesque cathedral, the impressive Palazzo Pubblico which houses the famous frescos by Lorenzetti and access to the Torre del Mangia, an eye-catching tower and an ideal place to have a panoramic view of this unique town.
